12/27 ＊ The second night for auroras ～アラスカ・オーロラの旅 Day２-２～
We were all psyched up for seeing auroras. That’s because the acquaintances who we ran into at the Chena Hot Springs told us they watched amazing bands of colored light of auroras the night before even though we had not been able to see the auroras.
However, Why not…？
この晩は、とにかく気合が入っていました。
というのも、チナ温泉でばったり会った知り合いのご夫婦が
昨晩、カラフルで美しい、ものすごいオーロラを見たと教えてくれたから。
私たちは胸を張って“オーロラ！”と言えるものは見られなかったのに。。
な、なぜ……？
According to them, the auroras they saw changed their colors, and they could watch the colors by their eyes directly. The time was around 0:30 AM; an hour after we went to bed…
Their aurora’s story made us really mad at ourselves. We regretted not waiting for it longer.
そのご夫婦によれば、遭遇したオーロラは色とりどりに変化し、
実際に目で確認できたとのこと。
時間帯は、０時半！私たちがベッドに入って１時間半後…
昨日、どうしてもっと粘らなかったのかと
本当に悔しい気持ちになったのでした。
After hearing this, all of us were highly motivated. We waited for an appearance of the aurora by sitting on the best spot for auroras from 7 PM to 9 PM, took a break in each cabin to warm up, and sat on the spot again from 10 PM to 1:30 AM; under the cold sky in the snowfield, with drinking hot drinks and playing DAIFUGOU; Japanese card game with using a playing card. Playing DAIFUGOU was more exciting than we expected!
そんな経緯で今晩は３人全員、やる気まんまん。
オーロラスポットに腰を据えて７～９時、
その後キャビンで暖をとり、さらに10～翌１時半まで、
雪原の上、寒空の下でとにかくオーロラを待ちました。
We enjoyed playing cards on the snow. It looks really surreal, though.
温かい飲み物を飲み、大富豪をしながら…
一見シュールだけど、大富豪、思いのほか盛り上がった＆楽しかった！笑
We could see auroras whose movement was more active than the first night’s, and we recognized the color of green, sometimes even a little yellow and red by our eyes! We wondered if we could caught all colors of auroras by taking photos, but all the photos we took showed only the green just same as the first aurora’s night.
この日は昨夜より動きの大きなオーロラを見ることができ、
色もグリーンのほか、ときどき黄色や赤色などもすこ～し確認できました。
しかし写真は、昨日とほぼ同じグリーン。
他の色も写ってくれたらな～という私たちの希望もむなしく、
撮れるのは終始グリーンの写真ばかり。。
When the sky became covered with clouds, 1:30 AM, we stopped the observation. Although I got up and checked the sky at 2:30 AM and 3 AM, there was no more aurora, either.
空が雲で覆われはじめ、
さすがに期待薄だろうと思われた翌１時半に観測終了。
２時半、３時にも起きて空を確認してみたけれど、
それ以上は結局、オーロラを見ることはできなかったのでした。
