12/31 ＊ The last day in Alaska... ～アラスカ・オーロラの旅 Day６～
It was the last day in Alaska. We didn’t do anything special, just spent time relaxing and remembering our days there.
６日間のアラスカ滞在も、今日で最後。
最終日は特別なことは何もせず、ここでの日々を思い出しながら
のんびり、ゆったりと過ごしました。
We helped Mrs. Pat and Mr. Ed feed the dogs at 8 AM. Helping feeding in the morning was the first and last time for us. After we took a nap, we also helped clean the houses of the dogs.
朝８時には、ワンコたちのエサやりをお手伝い。
朝のお手伝いはこれが最初にして最後。フレーバーウォーターのみでした。
そのあと少し仮眠して、ワンコたちのおうちのおそうじもお手伝い。

もうすぐさよなら、、元気でね～！
On the way to our cabin after helping, Mrs. Pat gave us an enclosed card and a handmade jar of jam for souvenirs. I took the card out of the envelope. It was a wide and folded card with a printed engraving of nature in Alaska from one side to the other; with illustrated dogs and a dog sled, bears, birds, and so on. The card had been designed by her friends. The design was lively and wonderful.
お手伝いが終わって、キャビンへ荷造りに戻る途中、
パットさんが「スーベニア」と言って、
封筒に入ったカードと手作りジャムをくれました。
カードを取りだしてみると、それは二つ折りで細長く、
犬ぞりやクマ、鳥たちなど、アラスカの自然が
横いっぱいに版画でプリントされており、賑やかで素敵なデザイン。
パットさんのお友達がパットさんのために作ってくれたオリジナルとのこと
I opened the card, and as soon as I found a message from her, I could not stop crying. She also referred to the message, but I couldn’t listen to her because I had no room in my heart. Mrs. Pat hugged me gently. My husband told me what she had mentioned. It was about a word, The Girls, in her message. They call their amazing dogs “The Girls” because there are more girls than boys.
中面にはパットさんからの直筆のメッセージもあり、
それを見つけた時、堪えきれず感極まって涙が。
「犬たちは女の子が多いから、私たちはガールズって呼んでるの」
とメッセージの補足をしてくれたのだけれど、
私はもう聞き取っている余裕がなく。。旦那ちゃんが後で教えてくれて理解
そんな私に、パットさんはやさしくハグをしてくれました。
We packed our luggage, cleaned our cabin where we stayed for 5 days, wrote a thank you letter to Mrs. Pat, Mr. Ed, and The Girls. After that, we went to the spot where we watched fascinating auroras for taking photos as a memory.
荷造りをし、５日間を過ごしたキャビンをきれいに掃除し、
パットさん＆エドさん＆ガールズへのお礼のお手紙を書いた後、
オーロラを見た場所で思い出の記念撮影。

We fed birds the same as the day before, and also took photos with Mrs. Pat and Mr. Ed, and with Cinnamon. We left there around 3 PM.
今日も野鳥のエサやりをして、
パットさん＆エドさんとキャビンの前で記念撮影。
シナモンちゃんとも写真を撮って、15時ごろにキャビンを出発。
On the way to the airport, they stopped by Fish and Game, where displays of realistic animals in Alaska.
途中、アラスカの動物たちのはく製が置いてあるという
フェアバンクスの「フィッシュ＆ゲーム」という場所に立ち寄り、、
Even though I began to think the time to say goodbye was coming soon, Mrs. Pat invited us to eat out with them if we wanted. They also referred to the restaurant they were going to go as a fast food one, though.
A while ago, I found out our flight had been delayed and I had told them about that by chance.
In the end, we all had a dinner together at Wendy’s. After finishing eating, we were off to the airport.
いよいよ空港、と思っていた私たちに、
ファストフードだけど、良かったら一緒に夕ご飯たべる？
と誘ってくれたパットさん。
道中、話の流れで乗る予定の便が遅れていることを話していたのでした
一緒に「ウェンディーズ」で夕飯を食べて、フェアバンクスの空港へ。
Although I didn’t want to cry, I cried again in front of the check-in counter at the airport. However, I worked hard to thank her and tell her what I had decided to say. She also hugged me again and said “I was glad to see you. Keep in touch”
お別れの時の言葉を頭の中で考えていたのに、
空港のチェックインカウンター前で
いよいよさよなら、という時になって、またも涙が。
なんとか声を絞り出し、感謝を伝えたところ、
パットさんは再びハグをしてくれて、
「会えてうれしかったよ、連絡してね」と言ってくれたのでした。
Fortunately, we rode on the first-class of the plane of Alaska Airlines, so we enjoyed a delicious meal and alcoholic beverages.
そしてアラスカ航空の機内。
運よくファーストに乗れた私たちは、美味しい食事とお酒を堪能♪
We arrived in Seattle at 11:40 PM: twenty minutes before 2016 arrived!
シアトルに着いたのは、夜11時40分頃。年明け20分前！
Although we were planning on going to watch the Space Needle Fireworks, we didn’t have enough time to get there. However, my husband said we might see them if we went to a high place. That’s why we ran up the stairs to the rooftop of the airport parking. Even though we couldn’t see the fireworks, we saw 5 kinds of small fireworks. While we were watching them, we talked to each other like “I hope we’ll have fun together” and welcomed the New Year coming.
本当はスペースニードルのカウントダウン花火を見に行く予定だったのだけど
さすがに行くのは間に合わないね、ということで断念。
でも高いところへ登れば、ここからでも見えるかも！
という旦那ちゃんの提案から、急いで空港パーキングの屋上へ。
スペースニードルの花火は見えなかったけれど、
５ヶ所ほどで上がっていた小さな打ち上げ花火を見ながら、
お互い「今年もよろしくお願いします」と2016年を迎えたのでした。
In addition...
最後に…
This is the cityscape of Seattle which I could see through the windows of the plane before landing. Even though I thought about what we would have seen if our flight had delayed more than 20 minutes, I was happy because I saw such a cute Space Needle which had a pink ring.
着陸前、飛行機の窓から見えたシアトルの街並み。
どうせならあと20分、遅れてくれたら…なんてことも思ったけれど、
可愛らしいピンクの輪っかのスペースニードルを見れたので、
まぁよしとします・笑
