12/10 ＊ Class Party! the last day of the fall quarter
It was the last day of the fall quarter, and we had a class party! I was looking forward to coming the day.
この日は秋のEASL最終日、ということで、授業ではなくパーティー！
私は今日の来る日をとても楽しみにしていました～。
Our class party is like a Potluck Party. The teacher and students bring some foods or beverages if they can, and we enjoy eating, drinking, and talking! Of course, I was supposed to enjoy this party, but I couldn’t have enough fun. That’s because I couldn’t finish my cooking on time, and I was late to the party.
今回のパーティーも夏のそれと同じく、
先生＆生徒がそれぞれ食べ物や飲み物を持ち寄る
アメリカではおなじみ・ポットラックスタイル。
ずらりと並んだお料理を囲み、おしゃべりしてわいわい楽しく過ごします。
もちろん私も楽しむはずだったこのパーティー、ですが、
十分に楽しむことはできず。。
というのも、持っていく料理を時間に間に合わせることができず、
結果パーティーに遅れてしまったから・泣
What I prepared for this party was INARISUSHI, which is rice stuffed into pouches of deep-fried tofu; a favorite food of foxes, which are messengers of the rice god INARI. Making this kind of sushi is usually not difficult for me, but when I was cooking, I suddenly came up with a good idea, which my sushi looks better. It was about the decoration, which was carrots cutting like a flower, and I tried it! Unfortunately, the cutting took more time than I expected, and what was worse, it was rainy and blustery like a storm when I was about to walk to school. My umbrella was broken by the strong wind!
I think it was the worst weather in this fall quarter…
私が準備したのは、いなり寿司。
作るのが難しいものではなかったのだけれど、
調理している最中、いなり寿司がもっとよく見える飾りつけを
突然に思いついてしまい、実行！
人参を花の形に切ることだったのだけれど、
これが思いのほか時間がかかってしまい…。
さらに最悪なことに、私がいざ学校へ向かおうとした時の天気といったら
雨は降るわ風は強いわまるで嵐のようで、私の傘が壊れたほど！
この秋一番のひどい天気だったと思われる…

出来上がったいなり寿司！
The party had passed about 1 hour when I got the school, and every student and teacher enjoyed talking. I wanted to join them, but on the other hand, I really wanted something to eat because I was hungry! However, there were a few remaining foods. Also, I spent the time talking with my friends.
That's why I was still hungry when the party was over.
そんなこんなで私が学校に着いたとき、パーティーはすでに約１時間が経過。。
先生も生徒たちもおしゃべりを楽しんでいて、見るからに宴もたけなわ。
私も会話に参加したかったのだけれど、
一方でお腹が減っていたので、とにかく何か食べたい！と食事を物色。
しかし食べ物はあまり残っておらず、友人とのおしゃべりも盛り上がってしまい…
ゆえにパーティーが終わった後も腹ペコのまま・泣

Although I couldn’t eat enough, I had a joyful time with my friends. Moreover, they said my SUSHI was delicious!
Honestly, I’m not sure if their comments were compliments or not because it was sweet, but I was satisfied with introducing the Japanese foods.
In addition, they figured out the carrots and said, “Look! Beautiful carrots flower!!” I was glad to see their smiles and hear their exciting voices.
Making INARISUSHI with carrots flower was worth it.
満足に食べることはできなかったけれど、
友人たちと楽しい時間を過ごすことができたし、
私の作っていったいなり寿司も
「美味しい」と言ってもらえたので、良かったかな～と。
いなり寿司って甘いからみんなのコメントはお世辞だったかもしれないけれど…
いずれにせよ、日本のいなり寿司をみんなに紹介できたことに私はひとりご満悦
加えて花型の人参も「見て見て！キャロットフラワー！！」と
かなり楽しんでもらえて、これまた私、ご満悦・笑
キャロットフラワー、挑戦してホントよかった～！
Only my regrets was missing the cake, which was made by my Russian friend. This cake was the most what I wanted to eat because my Russian friend had told me the cake was her second homemade in her life!
ただ唯一、心残りだったのが、
ロシア人の友だち手作りのケーキを食べ逃してしまったこと。
このケーキ、彼女の人生２度目の手作りケーキだということで、
このパーティーで私が一番食べたかったものだったのです。

私が食べたかったケーキ！写真だけは撮ったのだけど…泣
I was so sad about that, and at the same time, I thought I have to be sure to come to the next party on time no matter what.
これだけは本当に残念…とヘコむとともに、
次のパーティーは何があろうと間に合わなければ！と心に刻んだのでした。

最後に、そのロシア人のお友達がくれた小さな贈りもの。

These Santa are too cute to eat so that they are still in our refrigerator, maybe until Christmas☆
これにはとっても驚いたし嬉しかった！
サンタさんは可愛すぎて食べることができず、今も冷蔵庫のなか。
