5/6 ＊ Let’s take a drum lesson♪
A few weeks ago, the day I have to return to Japan was decided. It is the end of June! So there are two months remaining to me.
At the same time, I asked myself if there was something that I wanted to do but I hadn't done yet, and I found it... It is a Drum!!
数週間前、ついに日本へ帰国する時期が確定し
６月下旬となりました。あと約２か月…
帰国時期が決まった時、私の頭に去来したことといえば、
「やり残してること、ないかな？」という思い。
そして一つ、見つけたのです。
何とな～くためらっているうち、いつしか忘れてしまっていたもの…。
それは、ドラムでした！
Before I came to here, I had taken drum lessons for half a year; that was my first time to play drum even though I was thirty-three years old!
Playing drum was exciting just as I expected. I enjoyed the lessons.
ちょうどアメリカに来る前の半年間、
ドラムのレッスンを受けていた私。齢33歳にしてドラムを叩いたのもこの時が初！笑
もともとの興味や憧れもあって、
リズムに乗ってドラムを叩くそのひとときはとっても！楽しいものでした。
When it was decided that I would live in the U.S. for almost one year and told the drum teacher, the classmates and my friends about it, some of them said like "You should keep practicing drum in America!!" It was impressing because I had never had such idea, and became one of what I wanted to do in the U.S.; at that time, I couldn't imagine taking drum lessons with English, though...
そんな中アメリカに1年間ほど住むことが決まり、
そのことを友人やドラムレッスンの先生、仲間たちに話したところ、
「アメリカでもドラム続けてね！」や
「そうか～本場のドラム習ってきちゃうわけね～」など
私は考えもしなかったことをいろいろと助言？され、
“アメリカでドラムを習えたら……それは素敵だ！”と、
ここでやりたいことの一つに数えられていたのでした。
この時の私は思うだけで、ドラムのレッスンをアメリカで、
しかも英語で受けるなんて想像もできなかったけれど
However, now is the time for action!
I went to a drum studio, which my husband co-worker had recommended me when I came to the U.S., in a few days, got information about taking the lessons and communicated by phone which I didn't like the most.
しかし、今こそ行動する時！
旦那ちゃんのお仕事仲間さんからお薦めされていたドラムスタジオへ
数日のうちに足を運び、レッスンを受けるための情報を入手、
最も苦手な電話のやり取りも何とか突破。

Even though I couldn't see inside, I was not afraid of entering the door!

中の様子が見えない造りだったのに、今回は怯えることなく突撃！
Then, the following week, I took a private drum lesson from a native American teacher!
その翌週にはアメリカ人の先生直々に
マンツーマンのドラムのレッスンをしてもらえることに！
I had been a little nervous before the lesson, but it was so exciting that I almost forgot the time! The thirty-minute for the lesson flew so fast. The reason why I enjoyed the lesson was that my teacher was kind and encouraged me every time after I played.
レッスン前は少々緊張していたものの、
始まってみればそれはそれは楽しく、時間を忘れてレッスンに没頭！
たった30分、されど30分、
と思っていたレッスン時間は、あっという間に過ぎ去ったのでした。
そんなにも楽しめたのは、まだまだ初心者な私を
ちょっとのことでも褒めたり励ましたりしてくれた、先生の優しさのおかげかと。
いい先生で良かった～～◎
The lessons were supposed to be once a week. It meant four times per a month.But I wanted to do more, so I asked my teacher to give me the additional lessons. He accepted my offer, and made my lessons twice a week! I was really glad to hear that.
レッスンは週に１度、月４回ということだったけれど、
１か月という短い期間、出来ることならもっと受けたい！と思い
レッスンを増やせないか尋ねたところ、
先生はスケジュールを調整し、週に２回、受けられるようにしてくれたのでした。
I’ll do my best until the last day!
最後まで、がんばるぞ～～！
The studio is also opened as a shop so there is a lot of drum instruments. Amazing!
スタジオはショップとしても営業しており、ドラムのパーツもずらーり！
By the way, I was hungry after the lesson so I ate "Mac & Cheese" at Beecher's.
It was my first time to eat and tasty!
ちなみにこの初レッスン後、お腹が空いたので「ビーチャーズ」の看板メニュー
“マカロニ&チーズ”を初実食。濃厚チーズにピリッと唐辛子のアクセントがあって美味しかった！
